This explains what Oiko does with what you write. It is the whole story, in plain words. If something here is unclear, email support@oiko.space and we will answer.

The short version

  • You can use Oiko without an account. Signed out, your tasks stay on your device and never reach us.
  • An account is an email address and, if you want, a first name. There is no password.
  • What you dump is sent to a language model so Oiko can sort it into tasks and write drafts for you. That is the product.
  • We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and there is no analytics or tracking code in Oiko.
  • You can delete your account, and everything tied to it, from inside the app or at oiko.space/delete-account.

Who we are

Oiko is made by the team behind oiko.space. We decide what happens to the data described here. Write to us at support@oiko.space.

Your account

An account is your email address and an optional first name. You sign in by asking for a link, which we email to you. There is no password, so there is none for us to lose.

We keep your account for as long as you have one. Delete it and the row goes with everything else described below.

Your tasks

When you are signed in, your tasks sync to our database so they are on every device you sign in on. A task is what you typed, the title and kind Oiko gave it, its dates and status, and, if you picked a place for it, that place’s name, phone number and address.

When you are signed out, your tasks live only on your phone or in your browser. Nothing is sent to us, and we have no way to read them.

We keep your tasks until you delete them or delete your account. We do not delete them for you after a period of quiet: an old task you never finished is still yours.

What we send to other companies, and why

Oiko is a small product standing on a few services. Each one gets only the piece it needs.

  • A language model provider. What you dump, so it can be sorted into tasks, and the details of a task when Oiko writes a draft email, a call script, or one of the mug’s tips. This is what makes the app work; there is no version of Oiko that does not do it.
  • A transcription provider. When you record a voice dump, the clip is uploaded to our server and passed straight through to be written down. Our server does not store or log it, and the app deletes the clip from your phone once it has been sent. Only the text comes back.
  • Google Places. When you look for a place for a task, we send the search words and your device’s approximate location so the results are near you. We do not keep a location history; we only store the place you actually pick, as part of that task.
  • Google Play and RevenueCat. If you buy Oiko Pro, Google Play takes the payment and RevenueCat tells our server what you bought. We store the plan, the product, the renewal dates and a customer id. We never see your card details.
  • An email provider. Your address, so your sign-in link and the one welcome email can reach you.
  • A database and hosting provider. Everything described here is stored and served by them on our behalf.

They process this data so Oiko can do what you asked. Their own privacy terms govern what they may do with it, and they may run in countries other than yours, including the United States.

What we count, and how

Oiko counts a few things so one person cannot run up the whole bill: how many drafts, voice seconds and place searches have been used this month, and how many requests came in this hour. Those counters never hold your email address, your device id or your IP address. When you are signed in they are filed under your account’s id, so deleting your account takes them with it. When you are signed out they are filed under a one-way hash of your device or your address, which we cannot turn back into either.

How long the counters live: the hourly ones and the older monthly ones are cleared out as they age, in the ordinary course of the app running, so we do not promise a date. The record that says a particular task was already paid for is kept for as long as your account, because it is what keeps re-opening and rewriting that task free; it goes when your account goes. Records of plan changes are cleared out once they are months old, so we can still explain a billing question while it matters. Your subscription record itself stays for as long as your account does.

Notifications, ads and tracking

Notifications are made by the app on your own phone; nothing is sent through a notification service, so we cannot see them.

There is no analytics SDK in Oiko, no advertising, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

Oiko is not a medical service

Oiko helps you write things and start things. It does not diagnose or treat anything, it gives no medical advice, and nothing you write here becomes a medical record. If you are in crisis, the app shows the numbers to call, always, whether or not you have an account.

Children

Oiko is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep an account for one. If you think a child has made an account, write to support@oiko.space and we will delete it.

What you can do

  • Delete everything. In the app: Settings, Account, Delete my account. On the web: oiko.space/delete-account. It removes your account and everything tied to it. Deleting does not cancel a Google Play subscription, so cancel that in Play first.
  • Get a copy. Email support@oiko.space from your account’s address and we will send you what we hold.
  • Correct something. You can change your first name in the app; for anything else, write to us.
  • Use Oiko without us. Sign out, and your tasks stay on your device.

Changes

If we change this page we will change the date at the top. If a change matters - if Oiko starts doing something new with what you write - we will say so in the app before it starts.
